Derek Beres

President / Founder

Derek Beres is a multi-faceted author, speaker, and podcaster based in Portland, Oregon. He has served in senior writing and editorial positions and has decades of experience in health and science writing. He also worked as a group fitness instructor at Equinox Fitness in NYC and LA for 17 years. Derek is the co-host of the popular Conspirituality podcast, where he focuses on dispelling science and health misinformation. He has conducted thousands of interviews in his career as a journalist. These conversations led him to founding Siris Health to compile and share useful information, as well as push back on the growing problem of misinformation.

Mallory DeMille

Mallory DeMille is a curious, creative, and quick-witted digital communications and social media professional who is passionate about the online misinformation landscape. As a social media content creator that works to debunk and expose the marketing tactics of the wellness industry and it’s players, Mallory’s work has been featured in Rolling Stone, National Post, and The Philadelphia Inquirer, among others.

Michael Hull

Board Member

Michael Hull has been a filmmaker and journalist for two decades, including stints at CBS News, ABC News, and Univision. Through his work with Impact Marketing + Communications he has created documentary-style videos for several government agencies including Health and Human Services, the Centers for Disease Control, and the federal Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program. His documentary feature Betrayal at Attica debuted on HBOMax in 2021 and he recently produced the short documentary When I Close My Eyes for Independent Lens/PBS.

Sasha Gorrell, PhD

Dr. Sasha Gorrell is an Assistant Professor in the Eating Disorders Program in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Her current research is funded by the National Institutes of Mental Health and the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation with a focus on characterizing shared features of anxiety and eating disorders and using this knowledge to adapt and develop evidence-based treatments. In addition, Dr. Gorrell had an 18-year career as a professional dancer with Boston Ballet and American Ballet Theatre, which informs her current efforts to support the wellbeing of dancers and athletes across all career stages.
